Life changes, and it was always expected to happen. Even after a change, that particular changed situation is also going to change. It is not something that I wasn’t expecting, but it did come all of a sudden, and it is actually a good thing. One more year without change and I might have been rather too hesitant to change – I would have detested it and might have tried to prevent it in all ways possible. But not now, as this change is something that I wanted long ago, even before I started this blog. People still say that if you take a degree in MA English Language and Literature, you have to write NET and even try for JRF, and it is the natural path right ahead of you. They say ...

Even though television has managed to become the big star of entertainment overtaking its predecessors like radio, the internet hasn’t really become the substitute of television – not completely, and not yet. Even though some channels come up with the most pathetic programmes, television continues to survive, as it has become part of life. But this television, which is more of an idiot box, will need better programmes to survive, and I am coming up with such an idea here to save it. During this season of terrible serials showing pathetic humans who hate each other, what people need is a regular dose of goodness and kindness. In each and every popular television serial, there is t...

Vampire Owl: I have never heard of such a lord. Does he really exist or is he part of an illusion? Vampire Bat: He is from the lands of humans, as a representative of all people there who celebrate this evil festival called harthal. Vampire Owl: So, which is the religion that celebrates this? Or is it limited to some communities or castes? Vampire Bat: The religion of politics; and it is a weapon to hate and make problems for the common man. Along with the same, they cause loss to the government and people by destroying property. Vampire Owl: Oh yes, I remember that now. I was there once for such an event. It is just something made of pure evil; even the demons can’t stand that. Vampir...

1. Create hell and play with fire: There are some nice and interesting things to do on Valentine’s Day in order to celebrate it, and I would like to start with the creation of hell and maintaining its charming fire. There are a few people whom you can consult on this, and I will mention the name of one such person in the next few paragraph – his name starts with “M” and ends with “S”; that will be all related to the clue. Please don’t be late to create hellfire because not that much of the same will be available on Earth – there will be other lovers in need for the same, and so get it soon – don’t let it go! 2. Watch My Bloody Valen...

Vampire Owl: Are you sure that we are at the right place? This seems to be something like an enchanted forest; but too dark a place for even my taste. This is not just dark, but magical dark as if some kind of curse exists here. There should be more than one supernatural force around here. Don’t they call this place the darkest of woods? Vampire Bat: Yes, it says here and so it is the right place; you can see the map, and you can also see the tree which has been shown on the map. The branches are exactly the same, and the roots are also drawn in the same way. There is also the destroyed space in the middle. Vampire Owl: Have you ever seen what all the official Vampire Artist draws? No...

Vampire Bat: And we are here. The destination has been reached. Somehow, the teleportation device worked fine this time. Even my fangs are okay. Vampire Owl: Yes, we are at the right place at the right time. But there are too many people here, don’t you think? Vampire Bat: This seems like a grand programme. I hope that there is tea in the end. I wonder which is the leading cookie maker here. Vampire Owl: Are you sure that we were expected to be here? Did you read the invitation completely? Vampire Bat: Yes, our people also had to send the representatives! This is the biggest death in their undead world and we had to send our team too. Vampire Owl: But we are the undead. Even the Great ...

I hereby present another list on the Fantastico entertainer movies from the last century which connects to the nostalgia. The titles here are not arranged in any particular order. Guru (1997) Director: Rajiv Anchal Cast: Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Sithara, Kaveri Well, this movie was India’s official entry to the Oscars to the Best Foreign Film category, and the first Malayalam movie to have that achievement; the next one came fourteen years later in the form of Adaminte Makan Abu. Among the movies of its time, Guru manages to stay ahead, and it even has its relevance even now. With the story set during communal riots, Mohanlal plays Raghuraman who has a special experience in another wor...

Here is another list on the Fantastico entertainer movies from the last century which had to be shared. The titles are not arranged in any particular order. Vadakkunokkiyantram (1989), Aanaval Mothiram (1991), Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala (1998) Director: Sreenivasan (1, 3), G. S. Vijayan (2) Cast: Sreenivasan, Innocent (1, 3), Mamukkoya (1, 3), Nedumudi Venu (1, 3) Sreenivasan plays three of the most memorable characters in these movies, Thalathil Dineshan who is always doubtful about his wife, James Pallithara who wrongly thinks that he has a fatal disease and the confused Vijayan who is an irresponsible husband. He plays these three roles to perfection, and I will always remember these t...

There is evil hidden everywhere social media, especially Facebook and Twitter. So navigating through this particular space is never going to be that easy as we are always against the bad guys. So, here I am going to share a few guidelines on how to identify these people at the earliest so that the navigation can be rather smooth. If you have been talking something about Malayalam movies, there is a good chance that you will come across such terrible creatures. I have recently come across one while talking about the movie Charlie and too many people do that in support of Ennu Ninte Moideen. The guidelines mentioned here are based on my experiences only and this can actually vary for each per...

Here is another list of more Fantastico entertainer movies from the last century which needed to be shared here. The titles are not brought here in any particular order. Sandesham (1991) Director: Sathyan Anthikkad Cast: Jayaram, Sreenivasan, Thilakan, Maathu This movie can be considered as one of the smartest satires of all-time. With Jayaram and Sreenivasan in the lead and being part of two of the major parties of Kerala, this political satire makes use of the available elements really well. Most of the dialogues in this movie are used even now, and in some cases we see the reflection of the same even during these days. Political satire is not the easy genre to deal with, and there haven...

Here I am going to write about those Malayalam movies from the last century which are my all-time favourites; in no particular order, but they are my most admired entertainers and they are fantastico! Nadodikkattu (1987), Pattanapravesham (1988) and Akkare Akkare Akkare (1990) Directors: Sathyan Anthikkad (1, 2) and Priyadarshan (3) Cast: Mohanlal, Sreenivasan, Thilakan, Innocent The best comedy trilogy is here in the form of these three movies which compete which each other to tell us which one has the best lines and provides the most fun. It tells the adventures of Dasan and Vjayan, two jobless people who become CIDs and solves the cases by luck. From the “B.Com First Class” ...

Malayalam movie industry who had a number of directors who have made big impact with their first movies. Talking about this impact, I would like to stick to those directors who haven’t directed another movie as of now, and also to only those who have directed solo. They still remain those who have made those particular movies wonderful, and it is this debutante impact which I am planning to share right now. Here are six of such interesting movies with debutante directors at the helm, not put here in any particular order. Om Shanti Oshana: Jude Anthany Joseph (2014) Genre: Romantic Comedy Cast: Nivin Pauly, Nazriya Nazim I haven’t really found someone knowing how to make each mo...

I have watched many movies which are based on campus life, including Classmates, Niram, Doctor Love, Nammal and more, but never did I thought that my post graduation time will be the best years of my life. Yes, there has been problems here are there, but all of them have only contributed to making me a better person, and there was the chance to go through all the literature, which is why I consider the two years as among the best of life, and remain as my strongest memories; UCC is the fantastico of my education. This memory is all about UC College or Union Christian College. The history of UC College’s history goes back to 1921, when it came to existence as a result of co-operation b...

If you have watched Charlie, you will know exactly what I am talking about. Charlie was one of the last movies to be released in 2015, as it arrived as the Christmas release and stole many hearts with its variety and a fairy-tale kind of adventure and love story. The one thing that everyone was expecting and could manage to be sure about was that it was going to be different, and that particular expectation was fulfilled with ease. But there was surely more to the movie than that. Charlie tells the story of a girl named Tessa who runs away from home to escape marriage. During her stay at the new place, she finds a few things left behind by the earlier tenant named Charlie and becomes very mu...

We are all different individuals with a large variety of tastes. If we look closer, the similarities become a lot lesser in number and this lack of similarities will assure each one of us that we have our own personalities. There are lots of things that contribute to this individuality, but in my case, I am going to come up with some weird reasons. Different might be nice, but weird is better. It is also special! What is the fun in everyone being the same kind of person? The first point here would be that I don’t comb my hair. Well, I can’t remember when was the last time I did that. Nowadays, I don’t even have hair style. All the style depends on how my hair manages to be....

In the year 2015, there were a number of actresses who were more noticed with their new movies. The same were the case of a number of new actors getting better attention, but with those faces not that familiar with the audience, there were more new faces making an impact among the actresses than the actors. I can list a few names here on those actresses who have made us feel that they are here to stay in the Malayalam movie industry. I believe that you will also like them. Along with these actresses, you can also add Divya Pillai from Ayal Njanalla and Sana Althaf who was good in a bad movie, Mariyam Mukku. Nikhila Vimal (Love 24×7) There are not many movies which has deserved more at...

With the last Grand Slam of the year already over, I had thought that the best moments of tennis were over for this year. But it didn’t end with US Open, as ATP World Tour Finals was not the last big thing. There was Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza did managing to claim the doubles title at the WTA Finals with a 6-0, 6-3 win against the Spanish team of Garbine Muguruza and Carla Suarez Navarro. Having already won Wimbledon and the US Open, it has been an a very nice year for the Indo-Swiss team. Sania was already the defending champion having won the title last year with Zimbabwe’s Cara Black who had her third title of WTA Finals doubles last year while Martina Hingis is having he...

Nostalgia goes back by many years, but before reaching the beginning, there is another stage which can be directly related to the Malayalam movies. It is to this stage that one particular actor and his movies are related. The situation goes back to 1997 when his first movie was released, even though I watched the flick only later. His birthday was yesterday, and as usual, I realized that it was another birthday one day later. The actor in picture here is Kunchacko Boban, and it is about his movies that the rest of this post is going to be about. Aniyathipraavu (1997): The biggest hit of the season and also of his career on his debut as a hero itself – it is something which every newcom...

***Just some more fictional kitty news centered on our most loved cat of all time, Simona; as she wanders through the complicated world of humans. Catmobile is birthright, says Simona. After watching too many Batman movies, Simona has expressed more desire for the Catmobile which has been under the consideration of both the humans and the vampires for quite a long time. If a bat can have a mobile and it even has wheels an armour, why can’t a cat? – this has been her doubt for quite a long time. She once again made it clear that the cats are the true saviours and helpers of the humans and if they can’t have a mobile, it is a shame and something worth lamenting for a very l...

Today is November 1st, the day after the Halloween night. I usually try to come up with a Halloween night post, but as horror always exists in my life a lot better than anything else, I thought that I should come up with the Kerala Piravi post instead. Today is the birthday of the state of Kerala or the Kerala Piravi Dinam. It is believed that Parashurama, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu created Kerala as he threw his axe into the sea, and water gave way to bring the land which is now this state, A part of his creation also forms a very small part of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Most of the Keralites do know all these, but I will share this for the first time on my blog. A reminder will only hel...

Even though Marimayam of Mazhavil Manorama is the better known satire on Malayalam television channels, there is another program which is aired at 10:30 PM every Saturday and Sunday, keeping a high standard for itself too. Vellanakalude Nadu, the satire shown on Asianet has its name inspired from the 1988 drama satire directed by Priyadarshan, scripted by Sreenivasan and produced by Maniyanpilla Raju. It had Mohanlal and Shobhana in the leading roles supported by a fine group of popular names of that time. With its memorable comic scenes and its work as a political satire on the system as well as the people who were around it, the movie is often considered as a classic even though its Hindi ...

There is one question which has been commonly asked during talks – What if you had a million dollars? Before converting into rupees, that didn’t provide me that shock which was needed. Well, one million dollars was equal to 65,369,500 rupees when I last looked, and that is an amount which I am sure that I will never earn by myself in my whole life. It is not just the money that I won’t have, it is also more than all the money that I will need. So, this weekend’s WOW topic had me in some doubt. Well, the solution comes in many ways for the extra money that you will have. Well, whoever you ask if there is the need for money, I am sure that the answer will be yes, even i...

My list of places to travel in this life has been a very long one. I have often thought about buying a new shelf to keep that list. The cities like Rome, Barcelona, Milan, Vienna, Florence, Lisbon, Venice and many others have been part of that list, along with a good number of Latin American nations. There have also been nations on the Eastern side of Asia and the South of Africa which have been in my list. But there is something about Eastern Europe and one nation in particular, which I wished to visit right from my childhood, even before I knew more about the nations, their geographical locations, capitals and the distance to be traveled from here. I know my friends who wish to travel and ...

I have not cared much about birthdays, and as I am not specifically inclined towards any actor or actress except for liking a few people, I have never found the need to post on the birthdays of celebrities. Birthdays were never really the days which interested me, as they have always been the dates which started counting towards the end of our lives. But I was randomly going through a number of Malayalam movie industry related pages and found that it was Dileep’s birthday yesterday. Then I thought that I would just provide something for the day, a list of the most popular movies which he has acted in, and those which I have liked more than the others. Well, Dileep has always been the ...

The darkest day of the month was chosen for accomplishing this. It was the biggest mission that the Vampire Team had undertaken during their long journey together. They had fought the Great Pimple Overlord, the Devil’s Shadow, the Minions of the Lich Queen, Devourers of the Shadows and many more, but none of them could match up to this great objective. This was not just for the Vampire World, but for the whole realm and its existence which rested on one thing, as the Vampire Owl switched on the small dynamo torch. “This thing is not working. What a ridiculous device. I knew that those human salesmen were lying” said the Vampire Owl which shaking the torch. “Yes, it wo...
