 Over rain fall hardly affected the monsoon tourism in Kerala. These days in Kerala get a high rainfall than previous year. Beach tourism, backwater tourism, hill tourism etc all are under the rain havoc.   All areas of tourism industry get a bad hit. Heavy rain fall causes floods and damaged the roads. It damaged the whole traffic system. Monsoon tourism mainly aimed for foreign tourists. But heavy rain and fog completely affected the plane service.   Hill tourism, especially in Idukki and Wayanad districts lost many tourists. Bookings are closed.  Kerala tourism has introduced a new policy for tourism investors. It will roll out the red carpet only for ‘responsible tourism’ (RT).  The RT Classification became operational by the end of May 2013. The classification is for tourist accommodation providers such as hotels, resorts, heritage homes, ayurveda resorts, serviced villas, houseboats and home stays. The first step is all hotels and resorts in Kumarakom would be declared RT-complaint on June 27, at the inauguration of the International Conference on Responsible Tourism.Any new tourism unit was entitled to capital subsidy and power tariff concessions.  Monsoon is sometimes an off­-season in tourist parlance. Monsoon attracts Arab visitors from Gulf countries and also North Indians to Kerala during June to August.  Ernakulam will get a new face for tourism. The state government has sanctioned Rs 5 lakh to the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) for constructing an Onam theme park at Kakkanad. The park is coming up on 30 cents of land belonging to the Greater Cochin Development Authority on the Seaport­Airport Road where the Mavelipuram Park is currently situated. “The park will have statues of Mahabali and Vamanan . Capt Michael Fabry, a Belgium National who piloted the aircraft, during reception ceremony for the Kerala's first sea plane at Nedumbasery International Airport in Kochi on Thursday. The Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala will starts its seaplane service this month, with the inauguration to be held at Ashtamudi Lake, Kollam on June 2. Again monsoon is coming. Kerala is set to popularise ayurveda therapies among tourists during the monsoon, which arrives in the last week of May, an official said Tuesday.Popular therapies like `age halt programme` combine ayurvedic treatment and travel to attract tourists.The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) has tied up with Santhigiri Ashram for providing ayurvedic therapies at its various centres across the state. Thrissur Pooram, the biggest gathering and crowd puller temple festival of Kerala, displays the battle of rich culture and material riches and it is a friendly match at Kurukshethra on April 22. Although the houseboat industry of Alappuzha saw its  worst ever tragedy resulting in loss of four lives on January 26 this year,  it is preparing to welcome more holidaymakers to this  hotspot of backwater tourism  without taking any of the precautions suggested by a 10-member committee of the government to improve its services.This summer is likely to see only two jetties in use as 12 are in  bad shape. Eravikulam National Park in Munnar reopened yesterday (5 Apr 2013) for visitors after 2 month closing season. The sanctuary closed on February 1st and that was the starting of the calving season of the Nilgiri tahrs. Now almost 45 new born tars in sanctuary.
