First one was Bharat Mata temple. Bharat Mata Temple There are only two temples dedicated to Mother India, one in Varanasi and other in Haridwar. Bharat Mata Temple is out of the way from all other important temples of Varanasi . This Temple is located in Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyaeeth Campus. It has huge open area with trees surrounding and huge lush green lawn  in front.  This Temple was made by the nationalists Babu Shiv Prasad Gupta and Durga Prasad Khatri and inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi in 1936. Bharat Mata Temple , VaranasiRead more »...

Dear Divine Souls,   Coming to one more important aspect of Varanasi are Lanes of Varanasi. Can anyone imagine a complete post written on these narrow lanes. There are very few and I am one of them. The most thrilling part in travelling in Varanasi City is walking in lanes of Varanasi near Godowlia. The whole area of around 2 kms near Kashi Vishwanath temple is complex labyrinth of small narrow lanes and by paths. The lanes are so narrow surrounded by the buildings that during many months of the year sunlight doesn't touch the ground. The maximum breadth of the lanes is 3 to 4  feet and somewhere the breadth goes to even one feet. In some places hardly one person can walk. During festi...

Dear Divine Souls, After visiting Kashi Vishwanath temple I proceeded towards the most important and largest ghat of Varanasi called Manikarnika Ghat through narrow lanes of Varanasi. One of the most unique aspects of Varanasi City is cremation of dead bodies at Manikarnika Ghat. Tourists all over the world only come to see this ritual at this Maha Shamsana. Here dead bodies are brought with joy and fervor with bands, drums and  trumpets in a procession with the shouts of words RAM NAAM SATYA HAI chorused by everyone in the group . It is said that whoever is cremated at Manikarnika ghat does not get next birth . He straight way gets liberated for the cycles of life and birth. The reason is...

Dear Divine Souls, After finishing with Ganga Bath , Nepali Temple and Lalita Ghat we  proceeded towards the most important shrine of Varanasi, King of all Jyotirlings , Kashi Vishwanath Mahadeva and Visalakshi Devi.   Both the temples are besides each other by a walk able distance of five minutes but one has to visit Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirling first and then Kashi Visalakshi Devi. From Lalita Ghat one can reach the second gate of  Kashi Vishwanath  Temple through the sleek 2 feet lanes of Kashi which is once again a tremendous experience. One post will be written specially on lanes of Varanasi. I always prefer to go by the second gate as gate number one or main gate is heavily crowded...

Dear Divine Souls, After having bath at Dasaswamedh Ghat we headed towards Kashi Vishwanath Temple, another way from the main gate which passes through the banks of Ganga. But before reaching that,we crossed Manmandir Ghat and reached Nepali Ghat and Lalita Ghat. Nepali Ghat is named because it houses Nepali Lord Shiva temple.  In one line I would say that, " Tourists from all over the world just come to see this temple which has no comparison with any other temple in India because of its magnificence." Walking around the ghats of Ganga is always a great spiritual experience and that too in morning one finds serenity and calmness even though the ghats are crowded with devotees in...

MAHA YATRA : Kashi and Kumbh 2013 1. Mumbai to Varanasi : Views of Narmada and Ganga 2. Dasaswamedh Ghat and Naga Sadhus, VaranasiDear Divine Souls,6th March 2013Besides Ganges I wanted to witness sunrise in Varanasi on the ghats of Ganga and the timing of sunrise was 6.11 AM. We reached Varanasi at 6.00 AM. Our train was late by 2 hours. I started looking out for Hotels for keeping our luggage near Varanasi station and to my surprise all the hotels near station were almost full.   This took some time . So we straight away took an auto and went to Dasaswamedh ghat. By the time we reached Dasaswamedh ghat, the sun already rose and I started to feel the ecstasy near Ganges. Kashi is probabl...
