“Why did you cut yourself?” he asked.“Because I was hurt. So hurt mentally that I couldn’t bear it anymore.” she replied.“What does not being able to bear the pain has to do with you hurting yourself again?” he asked.“It’s just that, when the pain becomes unbearable mentally and there is nothing that I can do about it, I just hurt myself physically. It actually feels good. It takes my mind off the mental pain and eventually I forget it.” she said.“What non-sense! That’s pure psychotic!”“Thanks for being supportive!” she retorted.“You’re welcome!” he replied sarcastically.“Well, you can either be helpful or just tell me straight, once and for all and I wi...

He has not only launched 3 new-comers with this movie, but he has also launched them in a sophisticated and lavish way. That was a risk financially. But, the 4 live up to the audiences’ expectations and how! SOTY is the WOTY. (winner of the year) Its a typical Karan Johar movie. Lavish and stylish sets, lots of gloss, lots of leather jackets, lots of love and lots of amazing locations. And as in recent times, lots of gay jokes, lots of “cool” quotient and lots of hilarit...

I was born and brought up in a family where time was more valuable than money. I always got money much more than I wanted but never the time that I always cherished for. Both my parents were working and I was left on my own most of the times. I spent my evenings either in foster homes or in libraries where I heard and read innumerable stories and fairy tales. And I spent my nights fantasising about that perfect guy from all the fairy tales who’d come in my life and change it forever. When I was in school, I hated my friends for none of them read and all of them seemed to be immatured and I was easily bored of them. So I borrowed novels from library and started reading them even in school.Th...

Some of you, dear readers, have enjoyed my posts. Some of you haven’t. Some of you seem to have taken an offence over them. Specially reviews and especially movie reviews. In my last movie review, that is of ‘Brothers‘ movie, most of you have sent me your feedback either via comments section or by email. And I’m glad you all did that. Some of the comments and mails have been interesting and encouraging while some have been nasty, weird and funny too. One of you said am bad at reviewing, that’s fine. One of you said ‘its criticism more than a review’ and that’s fine too. But telling that I wantedly gave a bad review to defame the movie and stop viewers from watching it, is pre...

Those were some power-packed performances. Naturally, I had high hopes from his Brothers too. And I am terribly sad to say that I am totally disappointed.Ramachandra (Sachin Khedekar) is a scientist but presently a business tycoon who makes energy drinks for children. Everyone is vying to get the secret of its preparation but it is maintained a top secret. Those who manage to discover some facts or faults about the preparation, are mysteriously killed, be it a competitor, an employee or a journalist. One o...

image courtesy – books.google.co.inBook review:When an elderly multi-millionaire is found brutally murdered in Hollywood, and his young wife raped and beaten, the police assume the motive is robbery. Unable to find the perpetrators, the case is soon closed.A decade later, in different cities around the globe, three almost identical killings take place. In all cases the victim is an elderly male, wealthy and newly married. Again his wife is found severely injured at the scene. At first it is thought they might be copycat killings, but it soon becomes clear that this is one deadly female killer. Code named the Angel of Death by the police, is she avenging some long-forgotten misdeed, or does...

It has been always my dream to read my interview in one of the newspapers. But, with blogging, I don’t really need to wait for some journalist to come to me. I have framed certain questions and answered them. I will call this as a mock-interview.Q1) What made you start a blog first ? A) To be frank, I started the blog since I had so much time to kill and had no work to do when I was in college. Also, it was the stories of how people earned money out of it that made me to create a blog. Now, blogging is just a hobby and I make no money out of it.Q2) Why blogging? A) Mostly, I blog because I want to be heard. (or read) There are many things that I want to tell to the world, but I cannot tell...

I’m a born independent, modern, open-minded woman of 20th century. This conversation, that I’m sharing with you, happened exactly on this day five years ago, in the year 2007. I had a boy-friend then. A man of medium height, brown, healthy, impeccable dressing sense and a sense of humor calling which whacky would be an under-statement. But, he was everything that I was looking for in a relationship. He gave me my space, never interfered in my work, didn’t rule over me, accepted me as I was and always encouraged me to go beyond the limits that I had set for myself. (Unlike others who always made their women feel dependent and incompetent.) Needless to say, he made me laugh and that matt...

One of my readers recently mailed me, “Hey, I read your blog posts. They are wonderful, no doubt, but may I know why do you hate women so much?”I was a little surprised. No, not because I was never asked this question before, but because what I read next.“I read your post Girls are more often than not funny where you were just making fun of girls. Then there was A girl’s fear of being hurt (which you titled as A gal’s fear of being hurt, typing error I guess)  where I, for a moment, felt that your last post was just a one-off thing. But later I came across your To love or to not to..? where I again felt that you were directly pointing out at women in general. Did you have a ter...

How are you??”(‘Why is he always so cheerful?’ she asked herself.) “Umm, I’m good.” she said not-so-cheerfully. “You?” she added forcibly.“Rocking, as always!” he said again with great enthusiasm. “So what’s up? How come you remembered me suddenly?” he asked.“Umm, nothing..” she said. “I just saw you yesterday and so called you up.” she continued without enthusiasm.“Oh! You should’ve come said hi.” he said as a matter-of-fact. “By the way, when?” h...

This post was first published in the well-known humor/satire website faking news. Here’s the link to my post if you wish to read it on the faking news website. As we all know that Madhur Bhandarkar’s magnum opus Heroine released last Friday. After watching it, Anupama Chopra called Madhur a pedestrian director in her review, which immediately invoked mixed reactions.Ashoke Pandit, a film-maker and a social activist, according to his twitter bio, tweeted in response to Anupama’s comment :Anupama Chopra says Madhur Bhandarkar is a pedestrian Director.Probably the impact of real pedistrian dir.arnd her hs effected her.— Ashoke Pandit (@ashokepandit) September 23, 2012 In response to ...

More often than not, from friends and relatives, am asked this one question that I’ve never been able to answer definitely. And the question is, “What do you want as a birthday present?” Coming from a family where ’birthday parties’ is a taboo subject and where children aren’t showered with surprises or presents on their birthdays, I’ve never had any expectations what-so-ever on any of my birthdays that I should receive so and so as a present. So, I’ve never been able to answer that one question and I’ve always been happy with any present I receive, because that’s a big rarity, even if it is just a box of goodies from Spencers or from Cafe Coffee Day! So, often, the onl...

He was startled by the vibration of the phone and he picked it up still half asleep. Though there was a “Hello” from the other side, his mind din’t register the voice properly. He growled, “Who’s this?” And he got, “Oh, so you don’t even recognise my voice now! Great!” He woke up with a start as he recognised the person behind the voice and glanced at the watch. It was 2am in the morning! “You!? At this time?” he said all this in a breath.“Woah, so you remember me atleast, not bad!” she said.“It isn’t funny!” he said.“Then, what is, you leaving me for another woman?” she chided.“What?!” he said. Then as he realised what she meant, “Oh! That uh..? You...

A man lies dying by the swimming pool, his blood dripping into the water and his wife stands over him, holding a revolver. As Poirot investigates he begins to realize that beneath the respectable surface lies a tangle of family secrets and everyone becomes a suspect. My summary: Henry Angkatell and his wife Lucy Angkatell invite their friends John Christow– a passionate doctor – and Gerda Christow– a plain and a little stupid woman, but a devoted wife to John – to their country-side home named The Hollow. They also invite Henrietta Saverna...

One day, Raju, a farmer, was in a desperate need of money and he went to his neighbour asking for the financial help and said that he’d return the amount as soon as possible. His neighbour, Ramu, who was kind-hearted, benevolent and ever ready to help others, din’t think twice before giving Raju 10,000 rupees who happily took the money and immediately left the place. After few months, Ramu asked for his money back and Raju retaliated telling he din’t take any money from Ramu and there was nothing that he was supposed to pay. Ramu was disappointed and cursed his fate fearing that he has lost his money as there was neither a witness nor a signed agreement that could prove the loan that he...

Just a couple of days back I took my sister, who was 7 months pregnant, for a regular check-up and the doc said that everything was alright and she and the baby were progressing well. She just prescribed a few more tablets and asked us to feed her more and more nutritous food. All good, we made our way back home and spent the two days in merry.Today, she complained of little pains early in the morning and we took her to the doc immediately who wasn’t in the hospital because she was dead tired of working late into the night. The nurse attended to my sis and said that it was nothing serious and that they were regular pains. My mom insisted on my sis being checked upon by the doctor. The docto...

image courtesy : flipkart.comBook summary:Yasuko lives a quiet life, a good mother to her only child. But when her ex-husband appears at her door without warning one evening, her comfortable world is shattered. When Detective Kusanagi of the Tokyo police tries to piece together the events of that night, he finds himself confronted by the most puzzling, mysterious circumstances he has ever investigated. Nothing quiet makes sense….My summary:Most mystery/suspense/crime thrillers start with a murder and a list of suspects, forcing one into the guessing game thus engrossing the reader. TDOSX is no different, it does start with a murder, but the difference is, the reader knows who the murderer ...

Online shopping has completely changed the way I used to shop and my very opinion of shopping. To say that I’m a born-shopping-hater would be an under-statement. I hate the whole process. To find a store, surf through all the products to find the one am actually looking for, to see which one is in my budget, to select a few and then bargain with the store keeper to finally get the product that I presently need. There can be nothing more disgusting to find that after all this, I realise that I don’t have enough money in my wallet. (Yeah, that has happened with me many times!)So, I confined myself to shopping of basic necessities and/or utmost emergencies as far as possible. Otherwise, I’...

They were having an argument and she was upset.Being a pillion rider it was her habit to keep her hand on his shoulders, but not that day. She wantedly maintained a distance to *tell* him silently that she was upset and he was supposed to soothe her, compose her, pacify her. In short, utter some cute words about her..They both loved ice creams and it was the perfect time for having one. They neared an ice-cream parlour and he said that he wanted to have one and asked her what would she want to have ?She said that she wasn’t interested in having anything and that she wanted to reach home as soon as possible. This post is the 3rd installment of my journey. Do read my journey – part1 and  my journey – part 2, the previous installments.ah, so on 25th october 2010, I bought a new laptop for myself and my friends happened to have many e-books with them which I copied all into my laptop and started reading them. I read as many as 10-12 e-books and then it hit me, all of a sudden. In one of the novels, the male protagonist was an avid blogger who had more than 1000 readers and when his girl left him because of a mis-understanding, he converted all his blog posts into a coherent story and got it printed as a full-fledged novel to win his love back. Now that story ignited, or should I say re-ignit...

(This is the second installment of the three installments of my journey. Read my journey – part 1, the previous installment.)The real trouble with blogging is that you cannot open the blog and then ask your mind to come up with an idea to write a post about. The idea should come on it’s own. It’s more like, out of nowhere, you get an idea, you develop it, nourish it and make it into a beautiful blog post. In case you get that “killer” idea while you are away from the computer, then, more often that not, you will end up forgetting it by the time you can reach the computer. Even if you curse yourself for the rest of the day and keep pestering like an interrogating officer, your mind ...

For the first time, I feel like sharing my experiences of blogging and being in the blogging world with, you, my precious and ever-encouraging reader(s).Was contemplating my journey for the past two years in the blogger.com and to be frank, am too amused at my own deeds. Amused, gay (happy), thrilled and most of all, SATISFIED.I first signed up for blogger in 2009 end, but din’t really know what to write about. Din’t have any topics in mind. Most important of all, din’t have the motivation to write anything as I was sure that there was nobody who was interested in my writings or who was going to read wh...
